the memory stick was empty
the photos of light--
of objects turned into lanterns
and flowers into fire--
mysteriously gone

I proceeded anyway
and where there was light
now pictures of a great spider
creating an 8 foot web
a coiled king snake
against the asphalt
dying sunflowers
with heads too heavy
to hold upright
